Capabilities Overview
ChainIT KYC provides a structured and secure framework for onboarding individuals while meeting regulatory compliance and fraud prevention requirements. The system validates identity information, performs biometric verification, and screens individuals against regulatory and risk databases to ensure reliable and trustworthy onboarding.
This section describes the full scope of KYC verification coverage and explains how verified data is protected, audited, and preserved using Validated Data Tokens (VDTs).
Purpose
The primary purpose of ChainIT KYC is to simplify and secure individual onboarding while ensuring identity verification meets regulatory requirements and operational risk standards. KYC workflows are designed to support scalable digital onboarding without compromising compliance or audit readiness.
Zero Trust Foundation
ChainIT KYC operates on a Zero Trust identity model. No identity attribute, credential, or verification result is assumed to be valid indefinitely.
Every document, biometric result, and screening outcome is validated against authoritative sources and can be rechecked whenever required during its lifecycle. Verification trust is always based on recorded evidence, not assumptions.
Included Functionality
ChainIT KYC combines multiple verification components into a single onboarding workflow. Together, these components establish identity authenticity, reduce fraud risk, and create an auditable compliance record.
Data Collected and Verified
During the KYC process, ChainIT collects and validates the following categories of information.
1. Government-Issued Identification
Government-issued identification such as a driver's license, passport, or state-issued ID is collected and verified. Front and back scans are used to confirm document authenticity, validity, and expiration status.
2. Identity Authenticity Checks
Submitted documents undergo authenticity checks including barcode or MRZ validation, hologram analysis, and detection mechanisms designed to identify tampered or duplicated documents.
3. Biometric Verification
A biometric liveness check confirms that the individual is physically present during verification. Facial matching compares the live capture with the identity document photo to prevent spoofing using static images or recorded videos.
4. Personal Information Validation
Personal information such as legal name, date of birth, residential address, and phone number is collected and cross-checked for consistency across submitted data.
5. Address Verification
Residential address details are verified using available authoritative data sources such as DMV records and geolocation confirmation where applicable.
6. SSN Verification
Social Security Numbers are validated with the Social Security Administration to confirm accuracy and ownership.
Screening and Risk Assessment
ChainIT performs background and sanctions screening to identify individuals who may present regulatory, financial, or reputational risk.
1. Sanctions Screening
Verification includes screening against sanctions programs maintained by regulatory authorities, including:
- U.S. Treasury OFAC sanctions lists (SDN and Consolidated Non-SDN)
- Additional OFAC programs such as CAPTA and Foreign Sanctions Evaders lists
2. Additional U.S. Agency Lists
Screening also checks records maintained by other U.S. agencies, including:
- Bureau of Industry and Security Denied Persons List
- Entity List
- Unverified List
- State Department AECA Debarred List
3. Default Individual Risk Checks
The following checks are applied to all users by default:
- OFAC sanctions screening
- Sex Offender Registry screening
4. Optional Risk Checks
Organizations may enable additional checks based on risk requirements, including:
- Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) screening
- Criminal background checks
